Relocating is never a fun thing to do. Relocating with an animal is an absolute disaster. Unless of course, you can get a person to take your animal while you move. In my case, that wasn’t an option. I first had to have a moving truck rental company. I had to move cross country and I could not do this devoid of one. It took me a long time to find one that met my needs. I searched on the Internet for cheap moving trucks and the results were too numerous. I ended up finding one after viewing a billboard that read, “truck rentals for moving”. I called the number and they had the lowest price and exactly the size of truck that I needed.
When the moving started, I had to choose a place for my kitten so she would not get away. I took her upstairs and locked her and her food and liter in my bedroom. That allowed me to take all the boxes and furniture from the downstairs into the truck. Now this was a move that I began on Friday and I was not planning on leaving until early Sunday morning. So my cat had to live in my bedroom for almost two days. Having her food and liter in there was not something I cared for. However, it was a thing that had to be done. If she would have stayed downstairs, she would have surely got out and then I would have had to spend time looking for her.
After the downstairs was loaded, I had to then move my kitten. I took her to the basement along with her food and liter. She stayed down there while I moved the upstairs to my home. The same process ensued. On Sunday morning the loading was done and I was ready to pull out. The fun part was about to begin.
Four hours in a truck with my kitten was not a fun time. She meowed for almost two hours. She was getting car sick and I could not take it. I called my vetrinarian and she recommended giving the cat the injection she had given me. She told me it was in the best interests of my kitten if she was asleep. So I injected my kitten and she went to sleep. I finally arrived and my kitten was still asleep while I started to move my belongings into my new home. It was not an easy move, but it was something that needed to be done and I am happy it is over with.
